Help for Communities
Our organization works with communities to combat gambling addiction and promote responsible gaming across Vermont. We actively address the following areas of concern:
Public Awareness: We serve as a resource for all Vermonters on the problems of compulsive gambling. This includes providing training and screening tools to help social service agencies identify and treat gambling addiction. We provide educational speakers for organizations, businesses, schools, and community resource centers. We gather information through our helpline to better understand the roots of compulsive gambling and cooperate with other public and private organizations with similar objectives.
Medical: We advocate research into the psychological basis of gambling addiction and work to improve medical treatment for this illness which impacts many Vermonters and their families.
Labor Management: We support the creation of information and training programs to educate employers, personnel, managers and counselors about the impact of compulsive gambling in the work place.
Vermont Council on Problem
Gambling produces an informative and educational monthly newsletter.
Help for Families
Compulsive gamblers usually deny that they have a problem – both to themselves and others. We invite significant others to turn to us for guidance and support. We can offer suggestions on how to deal with problem gamblers: what to say, how to say it, and where to find helpful resources.
